| Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is Laser Tag?
Laser Tag is a high-tech sport where players wearing computerized vests and handheld phasers attempt to achieve a high score by zapping other players, base stations & other targets within our amazing multi-level arena.
2) How do you play Laser Tag at Megazone?
After players have been briefed and have put on their vests, the game is started by one of our Marshalls. The vest is activated allowing you to fire your phaser at opponents and devices within the Arena. Each vest has sensors on the phaser, the front & back of the vest and on the shoulders. Tagging these areas will gain you points while deactivating the other player for a few seconds. After the game has finished, the vests shut down automatically and players return to the kitup room. Score information is downloaded from the vests to the central computer and individual player scorecards are printed.
3) How many people can play at Megazone Laser Tag?
Sites have different numbers of vests depending on the maze arena size. Check out each sites web page for details.
4) How long is a Game?
Each game consists of 15 minutes of actual arena time. We allow a 5 minute change-over time so games are run every 20 minutes. For your first game, there will also be a 10 minute briefing where Megazone staff will explain the operation of the vests and arena devices as well as outlining the safety rules.
When you play more than one game, you will have a one game rest between your games. When planning your visit to Megazone, please allow yourself a minimum of 40 minutes for a 1 game visit, 1 hour 20 minutes for a two game visit, and 2 hours for a three game adventure.
5) Are there any age restrictions on playing Laser Tag?
Yes, our minimum age is 7yrs. There is no maximum age to play the game - even grandparents can have a go.
6) Do you need to be physically fit to play Laser Tag?
Laser Tag can be played at your own pace. There is no reason to be rushing around the arena (in fact, we don't allow you to run). As long as you are comfortable with light walking for 15 minutes and you can walk up our ramps, then you're probably fit enough to play. Of course, as only you can be a judge of whether you are able to play - the final responsibility rests with you.
7) Is Laser Tag played in the dark?
Laser Tag is played in a darkened environment, but it is not pitch black. The arena is well lit with backlights which allow the fluorescent paints & materials to glow brightly. Your eyes soon become adjusted to the light level so you are able to see quite well.
8) Are protective glasses worn during play?
No. The lasers used in the game are very low power and only flash for a very brief time. The equipment has been tested to meet appropriate standards of safety for lasers around the world.
9) What protective clothing is required?
Megazone laser tag is highly physical and appropriate footwear must be worn. We recommend sneakers with good grip. ALL SHOES MUST BE ENCLOSED. No bare feet, no flipflops / Jandals, no sandals, no high heels. Please come with suitable footwear to avoid disappointment as we reserve the right to refuse entry. If in doubt, please contact us for the more information.
10) I have played Paintball - does Laser Tag also hurt when you are tagged by another player?
No. The only way you know you have been hit is when your vest tells you and it shuts down.
11) Can we play Laser Tag as a team?
Yes. Megazone Laser Tag may be played as either an individual game or as a team game. Most of our sites can play in a 2 or 3 team format. It enables players to think about tactics & teamwork.
12. Do you have a range of different game formats?
Yes, we have a number of different games that we can play. However, these games can become quite complex so they are generally reserved for Members' Nights and for specific purposes such as corporate team building exercises.
